B&P Acts for Suez Groupe on the Waste Management Project in Çanakkale



Bezen & Partners advised SUEZ, a French utility and infrastructure conglomerate, during the international tender process for a 29-year concession from the Çanakkale Waste Management Municipal Union and the subsequent TRY95 million financing for the development of a modern, efficient and sustainable waste management system in Çanakkale.



The financing comprises of a TRY57.5 million loan from EBRD and TRY38.3 million of equity committed by the sponsors SUEZ and ALTAŞ.



The innovative project aims to improve recycling practices in accordance with EU standards and in turn, reduce the amount of solid waste being sent to landfill.



“We are excited to have been part of this great project which is intended to improve recycling practices and modernise solid waste-management facilities for the city of Çanakkale, and hope that it will offer a workable model for other municipalities in seeking out and securing private sector investments into the waste management space” comments Yeşim Bezen, senior projects partner of Bezen & Partners.
